Thoughts of a dying humourist

Weeellll, seems that the poetry went down about as well as castor oil on a hot day,so Im back to ranting about various things that are unimportant to society.

Like the fact that the current patriarchal system is brainwashing women into convincing them it'l be fun to marry a fat idiot.
Case in Point :The Simpsons + Family guy.
In both cases the woman is relatively ok looking , with the only vice being a bit of a stepford wife (except Lois, who's a bit wilder than Marge...).
Sure the husband makes for many whacky adventures, as his wife tirelessly tries to get him to behave normally. This may look like fun, but after the third day, the fact that your husband pours wafflemix into the toaster, if and when he does attempt to make his own food,
is going to become annoying. Also the fact that he attempts hair-brained schemes and drinks his liver into organ-hell every day. So are we subconsciously becoming accustomed to the fact that husbands are allowed to be ambitionless drinkers who probably wouldnt have done much better than the wife he ended up with? Is a woman's sole duty to take care of every single aspect under the family roof?

The kids arent a whole lot better.
There are specific archetypes to which the two series subscribe:

-The problem kid : the fault may lie with a penchant for trouble or just plain idiocy (Chris and Bart)
-The social pariah (Meg and Lisa)
-The underestimated baby (Stewie and Maggie)

-> also The neighbour that is a notch more sophisticated than the family in question: Ned Flanders and Joe Swanson (I had to leave Quagmire out of this one ;P )

So you can see how the two series are built on roughly the same formula. Except I'll have to award points to both shows on different accounts : Simpsons is more established, but Family Guy is way funnier and more random.

So wether you agree or disagree, fire away with comments :)
